My Neediness! God's Fullness!
I am dust, You are God
For I am breathless till You fill my lungs
I'm in need, You're enough
I am helpless till You pick me up
These lyrics are so true. God made the first man, Adam, out of the dirt. Yes sister, essentially, we are dust. We will go back into the ground when we die. Yea, that's kind of a morbid way of beginning a post, but hey... It's true and fitting to the topic!
BORN NEEDY!
We came into the world physically naked and helpless. When we hold a baby, the first thing we learn is to support his or her head.
Why? Because they haven't gotten strong enough to support their own heads. If you miss this important step...that baby's mama is gonna be out to get you!
If you hadn't learned it before this blog...you are welcome!
A baby is fully dependent on her caregiver/s. The mama needs to feed the baby, change the baby, rock the baby to sleep, and recognize her different cries. Pretty dependent right? They are needy in every way. Helpless, needing to be carried.
SPIRITUALLY NEEDY!
Not only is this physically true. So it is spiritually. That breath that you just took without realizing, that was borrowed. It couldn't have happened without grace.
The fact that you woke up another day, had food, shelter, and all of the other things you own...are all undeserved gifts.
In this world, we are fed many sorts of lies. One being, we are enough! Sadly, we see this even on Christian clothing. "You are enough!"
YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH!
It is quite saddening because that is a false hope given. A hope that will eventually die. We were born with nothing, and we can't take anything with us! "And he (Job) said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return..." Job 1:21
You are enough," means, "you are completely sufficient." There is, therefore, no need for God! Why need anyone else if all you need is yourself? Now, most of the time, those words are meant to correct the lies of the enemy and other abusers.
The enemy's lies are, "you are worthless and should die! God has no use for you. You are defected, beyond repair."
DON'T TRUST THE WORLD!
Low self-esteem runs rampant in our society. One reason is due to social images. Those aren't even real. Hello, Photoshop. Thanks for lying to us dear program.
Oh, and we must not forget its friend, good-ole social media. How can we not look back at ourselves insecurely? I get it. "You are enough," is meant to counteract that. However, truthfully, we are not enough.
We weren't even enough to save ourselves! Christ stooped low. He humbled Himself and came in the form of man. He walked this earth, yes the very earth we walk on so that we could lean on Him, Who was and is enough to save!
CHRIST IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!
This is what we boast in, not ourselves. "But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." - Galatians 6:14
It hurts our pride, but it is needed! We are frail. But, far greater is God's fullness. When we take a look inside of ourselves and see what is there, in the truest sense, we can also lift our eyes to Jesus and see the abounding abundance that is in Him!
Sister, you feel weak? You feel like giving up? Nothing seems to be going right? Good. Lean on God, Who is almighty, more than enough, and perfect in everything He does.
IN CHRIST ALONE!
There is no reason to give up, except to give up your grip on what you may be trying to hold on to. Sometimes we don't want to surrender. We have figured what we want is what should and will happen. But, His ways are so much better!
Lift up empty hands with as much faith as you have, and trust your Maker to do what only He can do. You feel needy. Well, taste and see the goodness and strength of the Lord! In Christ alone, your hope is found!
PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!
