Will God Provide This Time?

Sometimes, we find ourselves in need of something that we can’t provide. I am not talking about, pricey clothes and shoes. I am talking about emotional strength, house payments, grocery money, mental clarity, and the like.

We know that God is able to do anything. We believe God is good and will take care of us. Still, there is anxiety in the back of our heads that questions if God is going to come through this time.

STONES OF REMEMBRANCE

In the Bible, the Lord told His children many times, to set up stones of remembrance (Joshua 4:6-7). We are a forgetful people. We can have experiences with God, praise reports, testimony sharing, and seasons of witnessing God’s glory revealed in great ways. Then, when we are going through a rough storm, we forget.

One of the stories that most Christians are familiar with is the golden calf. God showed His wondrous power in parting the red sea. It took only a little time for Israel to forget.

As soon as they were alone, they decided to worship something other than God. "And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf..." Exodus 32:4

Jesus was sleeping in the boat with His disciples when the sea began to scare them. They forgot how He had just provided food for a multitude of people, with a little boy’s lunch. They were fearful even after seeing that miracle. (Matthew 8:23-25)

FORGETFULNESS

"They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,"

Psalm 106:21

"They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them."

Psalm 78:11

"But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel."

Psalm 106:13

Have you forgotten what God has done for you in the past? In this season of need, can you look back over your life and see where God has failed you? Has God not provided everything for you this far? Can you find those stones in your life that remind you of His power? Be encouraged by them.

THE ENEMIES VOICE

The enemy love our seasons of need. He will try to convince you of many lies. He even did this to Jesus. Jesus had been in the wilderness for 40 days, without water or food. It was then that Satan tempted Jesus to provide for Himself, which was not the Father’s ordained plan. (Matthew 4:1)

What lies are you currently hearing from the enemy? Sometimes He tells me, "I need to take things into my own hands. God is not moving. Maybe, I need to find a way to meet my needs. Is God’s goodness really true? Why would He allow His child to go through this?"

The enemy will tell you, though God acted on your behalf in the past, but this one is too big. He will tempt you to stress and pull your hair out because of your doubt.

Discern the voices you are hearing. If they are not in line with Scripture, call it a lie. Fill your mind with what God has said. He has given you promise after promise of His goodness. You may not see exactly how He will provide, but can God’s word fail?

TRUST GOD’S WISDOM

God’s ways are higher than ours. His thoughts are greater than ours. We can only see what is in front of our faces. God sees the grand plan from eternity past all the way to eternity future. Yes, this issue of yours has a purpose in the grand plan of God.

Can you trust God’s wisdom? He knows what He is doing. Yes, you need money, mental clarity, family reconciliations, and emotional strength. He knows all of this!

You must trust that He will provide in His timing. That could be at the very last second of your need for whatever ‘it’ is. You must trust His love. You must cling to His promises!

TEST

Has it crossed your mind this may be a test from the Lord? Maybe God is testing your faith. He wants you to know where exactly your faith lies. I find testing seasons, times to examine my heart.

When I am stressed, I can usually trace it back to a hope in something other than God. It could be that I was trusting in my own strength, my own money, my own personal ‘Christianess’ with my family, or my own ability to carry my emotional burdens.

God tested the Israelites in the wilderness. They failed the majority of the time. (Deuteronomy 8:2). I have failed so many tests. Thank God for His mercy! Look at your anxiety, and see if you can find what you are trusting in, other than God.

Ultimately, He is your provider. All of those other things are tools He uses to provide. They are not the source of your need. Take your eyes off of what you need, and place them on the Owner of all things.

TESTIMONY

God does all things for your good and His glory. He receives more glory in our weaknesses than in our pride. When we are weak and fainting, His strength is seen clearer. This humbles me. Remember, everything is not about us. It is all about Him!

Maybe God wants to be glorified, and He is using this time of lack so that He can receive all the glory when He does provide. Have you thought this could become a testimony of God’s goodness?

When I have been at the bottom of my finances, physical strength, and mental/emotional clarity, there can be no doubt, concerning who it was that provided.

TODAY

I once read, “If we trust God with our souls, we must also trust Him with our day.” That was profound to me at the time. We believe our souls are safe with God. Christ paid for our sins and we belong to Him. Nobody can snatch us out of the hands of God. Our salvation is sure. (John 10:29).

We believe this but struggle with trusting Him with our daily needs. If you trust Him with your eternal state, trust Him with your immediate needs. Set that ‘thing’ in His hands and trust the Keeper of your soul.

MAKE IT VISIBLE

As I have said, we are forgetful. So, I suggest writing a verse that encourages you on a card. Place it where you can see it.

Blessings!
